“ Their ubiquity in no way detracts from their utter magic.” This.

Thanks dear Georgi. 😘 As a writer, I’m sure you know that it’s the sweetest to have your words quoted back to you.

What a gift the ravens are!

Not surprisingly, my mind drifted toward creation as I read about the raven, and then you brought us there. I was considering the intelligence that must reside, even in empty space, if it is to exist at all, how we consider our own intelligence and how the raven might consider it all. It all bubbles out of the constant. Out of creation.

Thanks Melanie.

You always make me think, Mike, and I so appreciate that.

I also ruminate on the intelligence that created all this, or at least the original components, and how love factors in.

I also notice that the ravens in my patch are always watching me when I’m in their territory, checking out my actions, keeping an eye on my progress. In that last long video I posted, they all seem to be doing fly-overs and I don’t know if they were alarmed or just on patrol.

I have wished, from time to time, that I could become a male for a season, so I could better understand how they think and feel and experience life. Now I wish I could be many different animals, particularly a raven, for the same reasons.

Thanks for inspiring these thoughts!

Many moons ago in the almost middle of the Baja Peninsula at a place called Cantaviña there is a puddle of water that forms in an arroyo. It's the only place I know of in the Baja desert where water sits in the lowlands. I once got there and nibbled a bubble (love ya Mike) of LSDeelightful and got in an arroyo west of the puddle and headed west towards the ocean. A raven came upon me and followed me for hours yakin' and cacklin' as I wondered and wandered. I found an old remnant of some kind of wall (maybe an old goat pen as people must have been drawn to this area for eons) then around the bend of the arroyo I happened upon an old Model T that was sinking into the desert. I know nobody dropped it in with a helicopter but how it ended up in that desolate cactus and bolder infused area is beyond me. Still the raven followed me out the entire way and when I returned he guided me back out in front and telling his tale and laughing

Ahh the whimsees of youth. If someone would ask me when I am going to go out there again and search for that raven's great great grandfledgings I might have to Quoth the raven and Poe Nevermore.

peace and love

Great story, Tom!! I am wondering what that Raven imparted to you. The energy and shamanic message of Raven is one of a story-teller. Your spirit animal! Either that Raven recognized you as one of its own or gifted you with an extra dose of its gift. 🐦‍⬛

Your post is so timely Melanie that I had to do a double take when I saw the Poe quote because I’ve been noticing ravens so much lately.

It started with watching a very scary Netflix series based on Poe’s story the Fall of the House of Usher…I started noticing ravens more 🐦‍⬛ watched them play, call to each other, do a flyby as I was driving…all the time thinking they may be common but how much I love watching them, why hadn’t I paid them much attention before?

Then up pops your post & I love it 🤩 Thanks for helping me learn more about these wonderful birds, and about their spiritual significance…bringers of daylight is in so much contrast to how they’re portrayed in our culture.

We’ve recently got back from Florida & there I was also noticing turkey vultures which I’d never seen before, their wingspan is huge!

Hope all is well with you.

Oh I do love a good synchronicity, Rae! I find them mystical, magical and funny! So happy to hear you’ve connected with them too.

They’ve gotten a scary rep because of Poe and that Netflix series, but I’ve never associated them with death, or anything untoward. Just found this: “Foremost, the raven is the American Indian bearer of magic and a harbinger of messages from the cosmos.” Love that!

Florida.. the sunshine state! ☀️ What a great place for a break from the UK winter! I had a feeling you were traveling. Hope you feature some details, like the turkey vulture, in your blog.🤞

All is well with me and always hoping the same for you. 🥰

Harbingers of magic & messages from the cosmos seems much more accurate given this lovely synchronicity 🥰

Yes it was so good to get some warmth in the sunshine state…a great place to spend the New Year. Home & getting used to the cold again now!
