My best friend, once shy and reserved, now speaks with a confidence that makes her seem ten feet tall. My brother, who used to be all about video games and solitude, has found a passion for nature. We're all changelings <3

Yes, Mohika, exactly! Isn’t it wonderful that we can evolve into new identities and don’t have to stay stuck as the same person all our lives?

Melanie this is extremely powerful as you expose your soul and being as you let us see the perspective of the changes you have taken on. I do enjoy much the line about people saying life is short but you believe it's long and allows for many recreations of the self. The fellow speaks of the eleven different people his wife had become and the fact he loved them all is a delightful image. This is big writing and you have shown you are even bigger than it. How fine. Your photos again amaze me in content, color and style. I found myself counting down the last couple of three daze waiting for this to come out and you surely didn't disappoint me my Mel with your full well of goodness, may I send you unending wishes of peace and love

"I had neither friends nor purpose." Mel, how did you find your new self - your friends and purpose? Simple question to ask, hard to answer, I imagine. Your transformation has been profound. Is it still in process? xxxxx Georgi

Georgi, reflecting back I think volunteering to teach refugees English was pivotal to finding my purpose here. But also beginning to journal again after a decade’s lapse, taking a poetry writing course, joining a shamanic nature-connection group and starting this blog have all helped mold the new me. I’m sure there’s more shape-shifting ahead; there always is. Building new friendships takes time so that is on-going. Thanks for asking! xoxo

Thank you, Mel. You took wise and generous steps - service, connection, reflection, and expression. Building friendships does take time and is always time well spent. You inspire me yet again!

Thank you my Georgi. YOU inspire ME!

I think too that there is an “initiation of wandering alone in the wilderness,” the dark night of the soul, that propels one into radical change. That was my experience.

Ah Melanie, as always you speak to what is in my heart and on my mind, how do you do that?! I love how you put things, it’s like you take something I’ve been thinking about but write about it so poetically. We are always changing (I was just saying this very thing to my husband on our road trip around Ireland…a camper van trip gives a captive audience 🤣), and your own account of becoming unmoored and re-tethering in not one but two cultures is a wonderful example of hope to anyone feeling discombobulated by change, or considering how they’ll fare if they take the plunge and make some changes. Thank you ☺️

I think we’re just soul sisters, Rae. I’m happy that we seem to be on the same wavelength and thank you for always expressing your thoughts and compliments so kindly and beautifully. I love how you said I was unmoored and re-tethered.

A camper van trip around Ireland?! You do the coolest things!! I hope you blog about it.😁

Soul sisters, warms my heart 🤗

Yes this trip is for my big birthday this year, something we’ve wanted to do for a while but never made the time for, though now that we’re here I can’t imagine why, it’s amazing ☘️ I’ll definitely share some of my travel anecdotes (when I recover from all the eating & enjoying myself 😘)
